FRAISA Annual Report 21/22

FRAISA’s recruitment and training A special professional development concept for industry talent With our special policy for students, we offer young indus- try talent a unique chance: After successful completion of an education in polymechanics, students take their next step at FRAISA to become an engineer (senior technical college, FH) or a technician (college or higher vocational training level, HF). We fully finance that study, time off from work for study, and expenses — in total, the costs for an engineer amount to 90,000 CHF (Swiss francs) in 4.5 years, and for a technician to 60,000 CHF (Swiss francs) in 3 years. At the same time, we offer students experience in top-level machining technology in our state-of-the-art application center, in an environment where they can develop further and contribute on their own initiative. Here they also get familiar with customer interaction and modern training concepts for sales. High expectations and challenging assignments Our expectations are high for student employees in their oper- ational work. In preparing and implementing training courses and customer seminars, independently conducting chipping experiments, and helping to develop cutting data, these em- ployees face comprehensive and challenging assignments. Their preceding education in polymechanics and their initial career experience help them to understand and evaluate re- quirements on the tools, use data, and machines. Practically relevant, challenging, and effective The dual professional development system is truly a challenge for student employees. Working in a plant alongside their stud- ies can be exhausting since, among other things, they have to deepen their applied technical knowledge and their knowledge of technology as quickly as possible. But this type of professional development is also effective: In spite of the challenges, all the employees are very engaged and motivated to get into the pro- jects. Special management is not needed: The chance to work independently in a high-tech environment is motivation enough. After successfully completing their studies, the employees are ready to take on important key positions in specific corporate areas at FRAISA and, by doing so, to take their next career step. Through their training they already know the Spirit of FRAISA and FRAISA’s products and, in this context, they can move on without hesitation to their new assignments. This system of training has existed at FRAISA since 2005 — 15 people have completed it already and 12 of them are still working with us. Positive experiences from these past years show us that this system of professional development sets the course for a successful career: from the application center with dual study to functioning as valued staff at FRAISA. “My practice-oriented professional development path to become a technician following my education in polymechanics I owe to FRAISA’s recruitment and training. Working at the application center along with my studies gave me quite a head start in my field.” Furkan Or | FRAISA SA Application Center Testing Mechanic ANNUAL REPORT 2021 / 2022 I PROJECTS [ 31 ]
