FRAISA Annual Report 21/22
A chip that has formed with the HPC application A chip that has formed with the HDC application Innovations at FRAISA Fuel for the future FRAISA invests about 8% of its turnover in product and tech- nology development and in researching fully new technolo- gies. This continual innovation process gives us the ability to offer our customers innovative, state-of-the-art technology. Manufacturing our new Microcut tools with a shaft diameter of 4.0 mm and a cutting-edge diameter of < 1 mm brings a new laser technology into service that ensures top precision. No process forces are occurring here, the quality remains con- stant, and even a batch of one item attains very high produc- tivity. Our close partnership with the machine manufacturer and inspire AG, as a partner of ETH Zürich, made this techno- logical jump possible. Xtap’s tap opens new horizons of geometry The tap from Xtap also offers the latest innovative technolo- gies: The tools are ground fully automatically on brand-new six-axis computerized numerical control (CNC) machines, which creates completely new geometric possibilities. Tooth relief can be changed dynamically, which significantly reduces contact surfaces, and cutting forces decrease significantly. The newly designed cut section and chip-space geometry ensures perfect chip removal. The highly smooth and hard AlCrTiN coating is radically wear-resistant and process-safe. The Xtap tool design has made it possible for the first time to develop taps to process steel or stainless steel materials with the same tool without compromising on performance. Raising productivity with many high-performance cutting edges The development of tool applications is another one of FRAISA’s innovations. Load duty cycles must be kept high and constant in order to achieve maximum chipping rates and process reliability. A chip that is produced in a high-dynamic cutting (HDC) process is cut much more uniformly and cleanly than with high-performance cutting (HPC) applications. The HDC process’s very constant cutting weight and perfect chip control allows tools to be configured with an even higher number of cutting edges. This even results in increased tool service life and high process stability. The new and highly inno- vative multi-point SX high-performance milling cutter for HDC processing show this impressive result. [ 36 ]
